Following a successful tour of the UK and an acclaimed five-city tour of China, contemporary theatre trailblazers Idle Motion will this week bring Shooting With Light back to New Diorama Theatre for one week only.

In a world where two and a half billion photos are taken every day, sometimes the most remarkable stories are found behind the camera.

In 1933 a young Jewish German refugee fled to Paris where she became immersed in the world of photography and embarked on a tumultuous relationship with legendary photographer Robert Capa.

These passions led her to become the first ever female photojournalist to die shooting a warzone from the front line, throwing herself headfirst into the horrors of the Spanish Civil War.

While Gerda Taro’s photos remain some of the most beautifully candid illustrations of the grotesque absurdities of armed conflict, her byline – though iconic in some quarters – remains largely unknown.
