There will be a licensed bar and food by Dinerette, a mobile 1950s style American Diner who will be serving up some cinema favourites including hot dogs, popcorn, burgers and shakes.
You are invited to dress for the occasion, and those arriving before 8pm will receive a free glass of bubbly or non-alcoholic punch.
Starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, La La Land is a story about a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress, both struggling to make ends meet in a city famous for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. The Hollywood hopefuls are drawn together by a hunger to succeed doing what they love, and so ensues a tale of passion, heartbreak and self discovery. The film won in a number of categories in this year’s Academy Awards, including Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Original Music Score.
The film is a homage to the classic musical and famously wears its influences on its sleeve. In the same vein, this event will pay tribute to some of the classic musicals from the 20th Century, with well known numbers being performed by the students.
