Laki Kane now open in Angel

Thanks for Laki Kane for showing us the cocktail and mini-bite delights of the newest tiki bar in Upper Street. Everything from the fun sculpture glasses to Caribbean decorations made the evening one of our favourites of the summer. 🍹😋

The bar is located in the trendy area surrounded by bars, pubs and other places to eat.

We tasted the cocktails served by friendly staff available in a moment through a special button which alerts them on a watch – very VIP! The drinks all come in interesting glasses-sculptures and the very generous flavours make them one of the best in the area!

Drinks have no refined sugars and sugar cane syrups are made in the bar (in their own mill!) along with exotic ingredients to make sure they’re absolutely the tastiest.

Our samples of the food were the perfect evening snack to accompany the lively atmosphere, we can’t wait to go back!

Winter relaunch at Magic Roundabout 2017

The brand new themed areas include a slightly bonkers version of Woodstock with some serious flower power and a super sexy 1970s Playboy lounge, complete with sheepskins and log fire. The Main Bar will be an all out 80s disco with futuristic art and palm trees and finally, the VIP Area will take you right back to the early 90s; oh the patterns, oh the Fresh Prince colours! 🎶 🍺 🍷

The winter relaunch also sees Smokin’ Lotus take the reins from White Men Cant Jerk who are off to pastures new. Smokin’ Lotus is the creation of Rosalind Chick who uses old family recipes as inspiration for her BBQ menu. In just two years Smokin’ Lotus has risen through the ranks and was voted no 42 in Time Out’s top 50 street food traders 2017. The main ingredients are smoked in Rosalind’s home-built smokehouse and the 11 hour slow smoked beef brisket with hoisin sauce and Japanese-style creamy potato salad mash cannot be recommended highly enough. Smokin’ Lotus will complete the award winning street food offering for winter which already includes Skins and Burger Bear.

Throughout autumn and winter the venue will play host to a huge range of events!

Beer Mansion @ MC Motors / Friday 12th May and Saturday 13th May 2017

Fully immersive beer festival unlike any other. Bringing together some of Brooklyn Brewery’s favourite community friends for two days of floor-rattling beats, food, tech, art, games, a pinch of astonishment and of course, beer – the interactive, multi-room experience is a celebration of the wide world of beer and all it touches.

Brooklyn Brewery has created a different kind of beer festival. The usual tropes are here – a ticket to gain entrance, a glass for one’s beer and many tasty hand-crafted beers; but there is no massive white tent, no fluorescent lighting and no vacuous convention centre. Serving some of the brewery’s favourite beers; each room at the Beer Mansion will fit within a unique flavour profile relating to the beer that they’ll be pouring, getting guests to think deeper about what they’ll be drinking and why it tastes like it does.

Crossing the threshold, with beer in hand – guests will choose their own journey through the five rooms of Beer Mansion. Whether they bask in the tropical haven of the Tart of the Tropics room complete with fruit-forward tropical beers, palm trees, and Hawaiian shirts, or are plunging into the gothic, roasty, and toasty Dark Room – everyone welcomed at the Beer Mansion can be sure to encounter plenty of oddity and perhaps even the elusive Brooklyn Brew Master Garrett Oliver, who’ll be flying over from New York especially for the occasion.

Not wanting to keep all the fun to themselves, Brooklyn Brewery has enlisted the help of local brewing friends as well as international sister breweries to serve up their finest beers, including:

40 ft Brewery
Redchurch Brewery
Forest Road Brewing Company
Thornbridge Brewery
Nya Carnegie
EC Dahls

Bringing some bite to the experience, neighbourhood food favourites will also be there – with Voodoo Ray’s serving up slices and quesadilla connoisseurs Killa Dilla adding some Mexican heat; whilst Andrew Clarke (founder of Glandstonbury and currently Chef Director at Brunswick House & the soon to launch Bastien) will be creating all kinds of surprising food and beer combinations.
