Super Sharp Reloaded: RETURN II JUNGLE at Selfridges until Thursday 6 September 2018

Saul Milton and Tory Turk present Super Sharp Reloaded, the second instalment of RETURN II JUNGLE. 🔊🔊🔊

Held at Selfridges on the 3rd floor in the Designer Studio, the latest instalment comprises of a static installation inspired by British music and fashion of the golden years of Jungle music from the mid-late 90’s.

Initiated by Saul Milton’s extensive Moschino Collection – the unique display will explore the way in which the Jungle era played host to the appropriation of Italian high fashion labels.

Drawing on Jungle music whilst also transporting it into the present day, and re-vamping the genre for the modern-day music fan, the installation will be accompanied by a specially curated soundtrack by Saul featuring audio quotes from jungle artists such as Navigator, Uncle Dugs and renowned writer Brian Belle-Fortune.

There will also be a specially created film by Tom Archer, featuring rare footage by Garry Clarke from his archive of junglists and ravers at popular club nights such as One Nation and at venues like Sanctuary.

Horst P. Horst (1906-99) created images that transcend fashion and time. He was a master of light, composition and atmospheric illusion, who conjured a world of sensual sophistication. In an extraordinary sixty-year career, his photographs graced the pages of Vogue and House and Garden under the one-word photographic byline ‘Horst’. He ranks alongside Irving Penn and Richard Avedon as one of the pre-eminent fashion and portrait photographers of the 20th century.

An international figure, Horst worked predominantly in Paris and New York. Born in Germany, he became an American citizen in 1943, changing his surname from Bohrmann to Horst. His extraordinary range of work outside the photographic studio conveys a relentless visual curiosity and life-long desire for new challenges. The huge collection of prints, drawings, notebooks, scrapbooks and letters that Horst carefully preserved throughout his life, alongside thousands of prints in the archives of Condé Nast, bear witness to his virtuoso talent.
