On your adventure, you’ll uncover a legacy of ice empires, lyrical scents and frozen fiery cream. Solve his final challenge, and he might have something for you.

Wayland invites you on a trail of cryptic clues, to see if you can think like a maker. Your challenge is to carve the ice trail across London, inspired by creators from Victorian times, culminating at a crafty drinkery… one most fitting of your challenge. Interactive sound installation by Studio PSK. Originally commissioned by the Fashion Space Gallery, London College of Fashion and developed in collaboration with musician Reeps One, the installation is inspired by the inherent joy of using playgrounds as a child.

Taking the archetypal elements of a playground: swings, slides, climbing frame and combining them with advanced musical engineering, the end result is a landscape of playground activities transformed into a giant musical instrument.

The installation includes a timber framework, built recreating iconic playground pieces to an adult scale. Using conductive paint, tape and yarn to create MIDI triggers out of steps, slides and swings the structure will spring to life & evoke the joy of the playground under the archways of House of Vans London.

Throughout the run, this iteration will be accompanied by an array live performances where musicians will explore the structure as an instrument through experimentation and rehearsals in front of a live audience.
