London Shuffle Club at Shoreditch

The UK’s shuffleboard experts have setup a new permanent home in Shoreditch. The venue is a colourful space featuring the UK’s first ever open-air shuffleboard terrace and will focus on the classic floor shuffleboard version of the game. 👭 👬

Mouthwatering guest ales and cocktails on rotation and live music complement the most fun, addictive and socially competitive way to spend your days and nights.

Like challenging your friends? Love a drink and enjoy social eats? Then you need shuffleboard in your life…

It’s a hot and popular nightlife trend in places like Brooklyn which originated on the decks of cruise ships in the early 20th century. The easy-to-pick-up, difficult-to-master art of the game is to use your hand (for table top games) or a cue stick (for classic, floor based shuffle) to slide your weighted pucks or ‘biscuits’ down a long, smooth wooden board and onto the top sections of a scoring triangle at the opposite end of your lane.

London Shuffle features alley-style lanes with an all new look that is effortlessly fresh and modern. The new 7,000 sq ft venue also offers the first ever open-air shuffleboard lanes on the outside terrace. Outside, you will also find a stylish Airstream offering a carefully curated selection of craft ales, while inside, an easy-to-drink selection of beers will keep you well watered.

For those who want to treat themselves; delicious long, short and slushy cocktails will all be on offer to add to the experience (and challenge of the game!) while tasty pizzas featuring a range of adventurous toppings will also be available to keep you well fuelled for the fun!

Londoners have the chance to try your hand at Shuffleboarding, the classic American game that is taking Brooklyn by storm.

The new venue is taking over the top floor of the iconic Truman Brewery in Shoreditch for the rest of the year. The space will celebrate the building’s industrial look giving it an underground party vibe – think bespoke neon lighting and sexy Miami-style art deco styling. Pop up bar specialists Platterform will be on hand to serve up classic cocktails and Americana inspired food.

Shuffleboarding can be dated back as far as Henry VIII and is like a mash up between ten-pin bowling and curling. No need to hire shoes, wear what you like!

Establishing themselves as an alternative destination in London’s Christmas roster, HYPER JAPAN is inviting budding Japanophiles to experience traditional and popular Japanese culture through food, drink, music, art, and much more.

Eat-Japan:
Overwhelming your taste buds with a heavenly barrage of Japanese food and drink, you’ll find it hard to choose between the wide selection of Japanese street food. The prestigious Sushi Awards will also return for another thrilling installment, on top of our usual range of raw fishy treats freshly diced and prepared in the Eat-Japan food court.

Entertainment:
Enjoy a huge variety of activities, shows and acts, including: cosplay events, gaming areas, art tables, family activities, Japanese musical entertainment and experts speaking about a range of cultural topics. There’ll be multiple stages around the venue hosting all manner of performances throughout the event!

Shopping:
Tokyu Hands is a Japanese store known for its wide range of cool, quirky stock, making them an excellent choice for gift shopping. A selection of items will be available for purchase, from high-quality Japanese takes on fairly normal items.

Japanese traditional handcrafted items, while always in high demand, tend to be difficult to purchase. With the “Traditional Culture Space ‘MIYABI’” gallery, you’ll be able to purchase directly from the artisans themselves, many of whom will be in attendance. In addition to these crafts, traditional stalwarts we all know and love such as kimonos, samurai swords and lacquer hair accessories will also be available.

Also jewellery a million or so “kawaii” things, t-shirts with your favorite characters… all available in a hundred different designs and many more colours! Japanese stationery, DVDs and CDs of your favorite Japanese movies and bands will also line the tables of many a vendor, as will comic books and recipe books.

Chilled Sake, meet Warmed Sake, because everybody needs a “warm-me-up”. That’s right, warmed sake is the only way to go this winter. It’s sake on a whole new level, and you will want to thank us when you get around to trying some. Sample some of the more popular products before buying them!

Fashion:
Japanese street fashion, “kawaii” has come to encompass the terms “cool,” “stylish,” and “lovely,” and is an all-purpose compliment about someone’s style or appearance. Kawaii ensembles will line up side-by-side with more traditional kimono. There’ll also be plenty of gorgeous outfits from UK designers who have been inspired by Japan’s unique aesthetics.

Culture:
A special gallery devoted to a 200-strong collection of traditional handicrafts, Katsura Sunshine, a master rakugo comedian, an amazing experience where you can make your own woodblock print with the team behind Ukiyo-e Heroes, and the roving, all-female street ensemble Benten-ya! Each offers a unique glimpse into Japanese culture and the cumulative experience will have you excited to travel to Japan!
