Launch of Social Bingo Academy on Saturday 27 January 2018

It’s obvious to anyone who’s played it that bingo is a phenomenal game. But, strangely, many young people still don’t see bingo as their number one pastime. The most likely reason for this is that young people in Britain today are ashamed that they lack the basic skills necessary to survive in the challenging world of modern bingo.

Traditional bingo halls can be intimidating places. Skill levels are high. Novice players who aren’t familiar with the complex rules often feel intimidated. The mission of the Social Bingo Academy is to equip a new generation of players with the skills to compete not just in traditional bingo environments but also all the “new-wave” bingo experiences popping up across the country. Bingo is changing. Don’t get left behind.

At the Social Bingo Academy you will be taught the rules, help you master advanced dabbing techniques, and show you how to win prizes in an enthusiastic but humble manner – all in a friendly, relaxed and social setting. If you enjoy drinking drinks, eating food, developing key life skills, and playing enjoyable games, then the Social Bingo Academy is the place for you!!!

Once mastered, there are few games that can match bingo for the deep sense of personal fulfilment and strong social bonds it brings. But developing the skills to participate in a meaningful way is the first hurdle.

The Social Bingo Academy will launch in a fully equipped, 750-seater bingo hall in Camden Town on 27th January 2018.

There is a full bar in the venue and food will be available in the form of lucious hotdogs from Popdogs.

Skylodge Launch Party @ London Fields / Thursday 28th November 2013

Skylodge is open Thursdays and Fridays 18:00 until 23:00
Weekends 12:00 noon until 23:00

@ 274 Richmond Road with public access via Martello Street,
London Fields,
E8 3QW

On Thanksgiving Day, this Thursday 28th November, an extraordinary pop-up rooftop lodge offering winter warming cocktails and festive feasting launches at The Hothouse in London Fields, Hackney. Skylodge is presented by Platterform, who have fast become one of the most dynamic new creative forces in London’s burgeoning restaurant and bar scene to create unforgettable drinking and dining experiences.

Re-locating from their previous home (The Skyroom in London Bridge), The Skylodge residents return to their Hackney homelands to build an expansive lodge like structure overlooking the treetops of London Fields in preparation for the festive season. Inspired by the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, this charming and relaxing space is the perfect place to come and escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life this winter.

Entering the rooftop lodge guests will discover an awe-inspiring lumberjack diner and drinking hole complete with a series of heated dining booths, cosy living room arrangement of sofas centred round a fireplace and a timber bar area hosted by a collection of vibrant characters.

Warming hearty dishes (Lumbersnacks) on offer include Smokey Maple Baby Back Ribs, Wolf Waffles with Mamma’s Pulled Pork, Mountain Cheese & Wild Mushroom Brioche and the signature Skylodge Sloppy Joes. For the sweet toothed there will be D.I.Y. pancakes and T.I.Y. (Toast-it-Yourself) Rocky Mountain Marshmallows.
The Skylodge cocktail list features a delicious range of innovative hot toddies from the signature ‘Hands-On-Gretel’ hot spiced cider to the ‘Gingy Toddy’ hot buttered rum and gingerbread drink, as well as other intriguing cocktails such as the ‘Snow Bunny’ smoked pine martini, ‘Lumberjack Beard Oil’ bottle-aged Manhattan and ‘Sasquatch Schnapps Stick’ trio of shots.

A three course set dinner option plus welcome cocktail is available priced at £20 per person.

For added entertainment, the Skylodge also boasts a plethora of fun and creative experiences such as the ‘Campfire Sessions’ live acoustic performances from upcoming musical talent each Saturday, the ‘Big Foot Film Club’ experiential film night each Sunday (including a partnership with The Smalls) and the highly addictive ‘Lumberjack Olympic Games’. Lots of fun games for everyone include Pin-the-Beard on the Lumberjack, Giant ‘Timber’ Jenga, the Hunter’s Dart Game and more…

In true ceremonious style, the Skylodge kick off the festive frolicking at 6.30pm on Thanksgiving Day (Thurs 28th Nov) inviting the public to join a lumberjack ‘Turkey Chase’ flash mob! Don your favourite lumberjack attire and meet the Skylodge residents outside the Cat and Mutton pub on Broadway Market to join them in their hot pursuit of the evasive gobbler as it makes a dash across London Fields to The Hothouse for the launch party.

Skylodge is the first of a series of innovative pop-up experiences as part of Platterform’s rooftop residency at The Hothouse which goes well into next year. Platterform are intent on extending their scope as collaborators by connecting with the local creative community in the area to curate a lively Arts & Culture programme to complement their adventures in gastronomy so be sure to keep an eye on the website, facebook and twitter.
