Bingo Academy at The Kitty Hawk from 6th October until 15 December 2018

Following the success of their runs at The Vaults and Mecca Camden earlier this year, Bingo Academy are based in east London for their autumn season to heighten the bingo experience further. 🙋🏽‍♀️ 🙋🏼‍♀️

City-based bar and eatery The Kitty Hawk will be transformed into a bingo training den, where bingo enthusiasts can get food they deserve. Bingo novices and experts alike will have the chance to hone their skills and live out their bingo dreams. They will be taught the complex rules of bingo and shown advanced dabbing techniques while competing in real-life bingo games to win life-changing (if slightly ridiculous) prizes.

The bingo boot camp will be paired with the ultimate bingo-friendly food menu specially curated by The Kitty Hawk’s head chef. The menu includes Kellogg’s Fried Chicken, Crackling with Sour Apple and Kimchi, Sauerkraut and Montgomery Cheddar Nuggets and more. Plus a drinks menu including delectable cocktails, craft beers, wine and prosecco!

Hokusai was selected by Life magazine as one of the most important 100 people in the past 1000 years, and he has had far reaching influence. A host of artists, including Manet, Degas, Renoir, Monet, van Gogh, Lautrec, and Gauguin bear his thumbprint, while composers including Debussy, Stravinsky and Satie also translated the inspiration stirred by the art of Hokusai into their music. His mark can also be felt in influential Japanese pop culture movement today, such as manga and anime.

British artist Rory McCartney presents: Psycho Boogie

The solo exhibition introduces a new series of drawings and paintings that continue the artist’s investigations of abstract imagery. Referencing the visual effects of Op Art, 18th century marbling techniques and 60’s pop-psychedelia, McCartney incorporates the erratic behaviour of materials to create powerful images that are spontaneously and organically formed.

McCartney’s work has been shown internationally in commercial galleries as well as public spaces including the Royal Academy and the Victoria & Albert Museum. He is the art director of Arena Homme + magazine, and lives and works in London.
